Over labor day weekend I had the amazing opportunity to do flowers for a wedding in Bodega Bay at the Compass Rose Gardens. I'm finally finding the time to sort through some pictures from the trip. It was really a dream come true to do a wedding in Northern California. Highlights were visiting the San Francisco Flower Mart, driving through West Marin farm country, hiking Point Reyes and the Muir Woods and basking in the sweet California sun on top of a coastal bluff.
The best thing about doing flowers in Northern California is the phenomenal selection of local, seasonal product. Seriously, flower heaven. The day before the wedding I toured Garden Valley Ranch and bought some killer garden roses and then drove through Sonoma to Oak Hill Farm, which was not exactly on the way but totally worth the trip. The people at Oak Hill were so kind and helpful and had crazy good product, I would've loved to hang out all day and talk with them but instead I loaded down every inch of my rented SUV with cosmos, zinnias, chamomile, dahlias, and bay laurel and headed north to Bodega Bay. Of course by the time the wedding rolled around I was too busy flowering to snap any photos of the day, but that's better left to the professionals anyway...stay tuned.
And suddenly it's November. Time bends in strange ways during wedding season, but there was something timeless about this particular weekend. Much love to all the amazing people I crossed paths with and to Matt and KIm, who flew me out there for their wedding. It was definitely one to remember.
